The chile verde (pork in green chile sauce) is about as authentic as it gets. My father-in-law ate here every week for about 35 years and now his sons frequent this old school restaurant as often as they can. We never make it out of Bakersfield without a visit. Be sure and have a cold Negro Modelo to wash down your plate.

The Arizona cafe is the best place to go if want awesome Mexican food. It is family owned and operated and the service is great. Just ask all the people waiting for a seat on Sunday morning. Very few leave to go somewhere else, you wait it out. It is that good! The combination of the white cheese and the dark enchilada sauce is absolute magic! Don't the plain decor sway you.

The best Chili Verde in California. A little known gem in East Bakersfield. Has hundreds of loyal regulars. The original owner recently passed away. He owned it for over 50 years. The restaurant is a landmark of good eating. Traditional recipes. All Hispanics rave about it. I myself have eaten there for 35 years. Try it and you'll see what true Hispanic food is all about. All Westside Mexican Restaurants have played a second fiddle to the famous "The Arizona Cafe".
