My wife always loved Le Bilig; I preferred Zachary Jack's in Diamond Springs, and since I paid the bill we always went to Diamond Springs. Zachary has a new owner/chef and although he does a great job, it is not the same, so back to Le Bilig we have gone. I can only compare it to what I know...the last meal I had there (august 2006) was better than La Bouchon in Napa, better than that enormous new French restaurant in west Roseville, better than Zachary Jack's ever was, better than 50% of the meals I ate at my last trip to Paris. Finding La Bilig takes some luck--the sign isn't too visible in the dark, and you wouldn't expect a great little French restaurant next to a brightly-lit bail bonds place. But once inside, you'll find that this cozy restaurant eminates family pride and hospitality.
